Tu'Nook

Tu'Nook is an educator,performance poet, playwright and an actress.  She has been published in Guild Press Anthology "Full Circle Eight", U.C.L.A. Black English Students Association Journal "Taz", and in the anthology "Butterflies on the Wind", from Hunan/Guild Press Publishing House in China.  Tu'Nook has performed in various readings and theatrical venues in Southern California. Some of these include Bowers Museum, Highland Grounds, World Stage, Black Family Reunion, African Market Place and the Pan African Film Festival. She also starred in the award winning play by Antione James, "Open Trench Karaoke Club".  Tu'Nook made her directorial debut as well as starred in her original play "Mood Swings".  She also directed the West Coast premier of "The Fiancee of Voodoo", an African Folktale, both performances at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in Hollywood. Tu'Nook was presented a proclamation from the City of Los Angeles for the preservation of the history of Los Angeles using jazz as an art form.  She also received recognition from the City of Long Beach for her work in theater towards. the evolving of stronger community relations.  Tu'Nook is co-producer, co-author and assistant director for the NAACP award winning musical "North On South Central Avenue".  Tu'Nook is a member of the "Cosmic Blend" performance poetry ensemble, and she is also co-author of a book of poetry and short stories entitled "Sittin' ON De Toilet Lightin' Matches"
